PSM Medal of Merit Nominations

We are seeking nominations for the 2016 Puget Sound Maritime Medal of Merit recipient.  The Medal of Merit award, like the Honorary Life member program before it, honors individuals who have made major contributions to the preservation and promotion of the maritime history of Puget Sound or rendered distinguished service to PSM.

To submit a nomination, please write a brief statement about the accomplishments of the nominee – particularly regarding their contributions to Puget Sound maritime heritage preservation and promotion.  Nominations should also summarize why the nominee is deserving of this distinguishing award.

The recipient of the Medal of Merit will be honored at PSM’s June dinner meeting.  Please note that past recipients of the Honorary Life Member and Medal of Merit awards are not eligible.  A list of those recipients can be found in the “Awards” section of the Society website at www.pugetmaritime.org.

Nominations can be e-mailed to George Osborn at george.osborn@centurylink.net or mailed to George Osborn, 3823 N Frace Ave., Tacoma, WA 98407.

Nominations must be received by April 29th if emailed and postmarked no later than April 27th if mailed.

CHARTING OUR COURSE
Maritime Blog - Join us HERE for a forum on original research and stories related to the artifacts, photos, documents and oral histories of the Society, as well as posts describing the work and programs of the Society. We will occasionally share pertinent posts from other maritime or historical organizations.   Several new exhibits are in the works for the McCurdy Family Maritime Gallery at MOHAI that will help visitors understand the realities of navigation in the days when water was the primary highway for travelers around Puget Sound. LOOK HERE for more information on this project.
