About Us

The Puget Sound Maritime Historical Society set sail in 1948 and has been an active participant in the regionís maritime community ever since. The Societyís mission is to create appreciation of the Puget Sound regionís maritime past in order to better understand the present. To that end, the Society maintains in Seattle a collection of ship models and other maritime artifacts, as well as historic photos, shipís plans, and books.  We also publish quarterly our journal of maritime history, The Sea Chest.

The Society is a Washington non-profit corporation and is certified under IRS Section 501 (c) (3). The Society is governed by a 15 member board of directors.

We have been a partner with Seattleís Museum of History and Industry for over 50 years.
